There are no evil people in the world
Lexi Fleurs x Nikol Goldman
shown at Lothringer 13, Munich as part of “ Antifascism:Now!”
“There Are No Evil People in the World” is a multimedia installation that confronts the moral dissonance of war through intercepted phone calls between russian soldiers and their families and colleagues. Using the aesthetic of sentimental souvenir postcards, the work juxtaposes souvenir imagery with transcribed confessions of war crimes committed during russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Content note:
The work incorporates unaltered documentations of war crimes.
Viewer discretion is advised.
Each postcard bears a fragment of these intercepted conversations, exposing the banality of brutality behind the façade of normalcy.
The title itself — a phrase echoing the widespread myth that russian soldiers are merely innocent victims of their regime — is used with biting irony, challenging viewers to reconsider notions of complicity and evil.
